Hi! I'm Ros and I am a Chartered Physiotherapist and Pilates Instructor. I qualified as a physiotherapist in 1993 from the University of East London and completed my Pilates training with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute in London in 2010.

I have been teaching mat work classes and providing individual sessions since then. I have attended courses on Pilates for neurological conditions, ante and post natal Pilates, Pilates for osteoporosis, use of equipment such as bands, balls and magic circles, Pilates for scoliosis, high intensity Pilates and performance Pilates for running and cycling and Shoulder rehabilitation. I have also attended biannual Pilates conferences to keep up to date with the research in Pilates and introduce new exercises to my classes.

Over the time I have been teaching Pilates I have experienced the positive results people can achieve with Pilates exercise. To achieve the benefit of the exercises it is best to attend a weekly class where you will experience a different set of exercises each week to work your whole body. It is also important to turn up a few minutes before the class to discuss any issues you have that week and to be ready for the warm up so that your body is able to perform the exercises safely.

I have lived in Poole for 25 years and love the great opportunity for outdoor activities living here provides  such as cycling, sailing, paddle boarding, wakeboarding, walking and running. I also love travelling and have a yearly mountain biking expedition as well as skiing and now enjoy the retreats both locally and abroad.  I love being active and find Pilates compliments the sport I enjoy. It keeps me strong and flexible to continue these activities for many years to come.

As well as the classes, I also offer individual sessions for people with specific issues they would like to address or who would like to learn the Pilates method of exercises before they attend a group class. This allows for a full assessment of your movement patterns to determine  areas of strength , weakness and soft tissue tightness. Then to teach you the basic principles of Pilates and  the exercises appropriate for your needs. An individual exercise programme will then be emailed to you with exercises which will address the problem areas to change the way your body moves by strengthening and stretching specific muscles. The sessions are for an hour and cost £70 including the exercise programme.
As well as understanding the importance of exercise to keep healthy I also have an interest in nutrition.
To stay strong and healthy and to look and feel great, what you eat and drink is so important.
I will be posting delicious recipes that I frequently use and hope you will enjoy too. One of my favourite sites I use is Deliciously Ella.

What My Clients Say

I have been doing Pilates for Parkinsons for approximately 4 years with Ros. I have seen her classes grow and grow as word spreads as to how good they are. They are not made easy because we have Parkinsons but they focus on things that help us like balance and core strength. They are fun and we really push ourselves but come out feeling positive and uplifted. One word. Brilliant!!
"I have Parkinson's disease (early stage) and have been attending Ros's Pilates classes for those with Parkinson's for over a year. I enjoy these classes very much because Ros helps us explore our range of movement and gently pushes us to do a little more. She is professional, extremely considerate, knows her subject well, and is also very kind and cheerful. She provides one to one attention to those needing help and always seeks to ensure we get the most out of the exercise routines. Those with more pronounced symptoms are treated patiently and kindly and encouraged to do what they can. I enjoy her classes! As to the impact on my condition: I feel stronger and more flexible and although the classes don't negate my symptoms, I feel better and think that by keeping physically active I'm able to better manage and cope with my condition"

"Every class has a different format focusing on areas of the body which can cause problems for many people . We have a good workout which challenges us physically and mentally.I really enjoy the Pilates classes and feel reassured that all the exercises are demonstrated and supervised by Ros"

I cannot praise enough the knowledge and expertise Ros displays in her Pilates classes. The varied exercises we practice are so very beneficial to the young and not so young the fit and not so fit.
I was diagnosed with osteoporosis last year and Ros is able to give specific guidance to myself and others within the group who have particular
'limitations', on how to approach particular exercises.
Not only does Ros show great skill in her understanding of how the body works but she does so in a friendly and supportive way.

When my otherwise healthy 11 year old daughter suddenly developed Scoliosis I was advised to built up her core strength so considered Pilates for her. I contacted various Pilates studios but because of her age and condition most were reluctant to accept her. One of them highly recommended Ros and I can't thank them enough. Exercises (with simple pictures to help us) followed and Ros went the extra mile by going to seminars and discussing Mia's condition - with my full permission - with other professionals to get the best advise possible and devise new exercises to build core strength whilst remaining supple. When Mia underwent spinal surgery to correct the curvature and had two spinal rods and 14 screws attached to her spine her surgeon at Southampton Hospital said it was the best surgery he had done all year as she was supple enough to pull back into shape. Her recovery was fast and I strongly believe that the exercises and care that Roz gave Mia that helped her body to adjust so well. I can't recommend Ros highly enough. Ros made exercises interesting and fun for Mia and quickly gained my complete confidence in her abilities and demonstrations of her knowledge. Thank you Ros so much for all of your help and support through what was a very stressful and difficult time for us. You made a huge difference to our daughter future and helped her when she needed it most.
