About Ros
I am a Chartered Physiotherapist and Pilates Instructor. I qualified as a physiotherapist in 1993 from the University of East London and completed my pilates training with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute
in London in 2010. I have been teaching mat work classes and providing individual sessions since then. I have attended courses on pilates for neurological conditions, ante and post natal pilates, pilates for osteoporosis, use of equipment such as bands, balls and magic circles, pilates for scoliosis, high intensity pilates and performance pilates for running and cycling. I have done on line courses on stretching and shoulder rehabilitation. I also attend an annual pilates conference to keep up to date with the research in Pilates and introduce new exercises to my classes. My experience in rehabilitation as a physiotherapist allows me to use the pilates exercises to assess an indivduals movement patterns and help them to improve their movement, general strength, core strength, flexibility as well as posture and balance.
My general classes are all mixed abilities with a variety of conditions including back and neck pain, shoulder and hip problems , as well as neurological conditions. I also hold a mums and babies class, a class for people with Parkinsons disease and an after school class for teenagers. Over the time I have been teaching Pilates I have experienced the positive results people can achieve with Pilates exercise. I usually recommend that people have an individual session before joining a class so that I can assess their movement and teach them the basic principles of Pilates and then provide them with an exercise programme they can use at home as well as attending a regular class. To truly benefit and see improvement it is best to attend a weekly class where you will experience a different set of exercises each week to work your whole body.
