Classes

All my classes are small with  a maximum of 12 people at Ocean Fitness studio  and a maximum of 7 in my studio. The classes follow the modified Pilates principles so anyone can join a class and work at their own ability. If you have a specific problem that you need addressing such as low back pain I always recommend an initial individual session to discuss the problem, asses your movement patterns and teach you the basic principles of Pilates . You will be emailed an individual exercise programme to then also work on at home .

MIXED ABILITY MAT

These classes are designed for anyone at any level to join  a small class. Each week we use a variety of mat work  exercises to move and strengthen different parts of the body. We also use small equipment such as resistance bands, magic circles, soft balls, foam rollers  and small massage balls to enhance the exercises. I will always demonstrate easier alternatives so everyone can work at their own level of ability and you can progress as you become stronger.

POST NATAL
MUMS & BABIES

This class is designed for mums to come along with their babies. After your 6 week checkup you are then able to join the class and start to regain the strength in your pelvic floor and abdominals as well as address posture from feeding and carrying and general strengthening . Pilates is a gentle and effective way of   exercising after you have had your baby.

PEOPLE WITH PARKINSONS 

This class is designed specifically for people with Parkinsons disease. The pilates exercises focus on posture, balance, strengthening and stretching to relieve stiffness in the muscles and joints. We work in standing but also on the floor so you need to be able to get on and off the floor independently or with the help of a chair. It is a fun and social group and there is often a coffee afterwards.

EARLY BIRD

This class is designed for people to access a pilates class in a busy working week.  We finish at 8.30 am so people can get to work and there is a bathroom to change in if needed. The design of the class is as for the mixed ability classes.

AFTER SCHOOL

This class is for children age 10 to 16  to be able to use pilates exercises in a fun environment . The emphasis is on strengthening the core muscles, addressing posture and working on flexibility and general strength. Children benefit from  Pilates exercises to learn how to use their core muscles especailly in their chosen sports and activities and to learn about good habits of posture and exercise for later life.
